Unlock the Apiary first
Apiaries become available through the Apiaries and Terrariums story progression. Build and place one outdoors on the farm before collecting bees for a production batch.
The machine needs four bees at the same time. For Legendary Honey, every slot must contain a Legendary-rarity bee; Fairy Bees are the Legendary bee used for this recipe.
How to make Legendary Honey
Load four Fairy Bees into the same Apiary. The Apiary then asks for a seasonal item. Supply that item to start production, wait three in-game days, and collect the finished jar.

Complete the Apiaries and Terrariums progression and place an Apiary.

Catch or save four Fairy Bees.

Put all four Fairy Bees into the same Apiary.

Provide the requested seasonal item.

Wait three days and collect Legendary Honey.
Museum, request, and sale uses
Donate the first jar to the museum's Honey Set if that slot is still empty. Darcy can also post a Request for Legendary Honey after the Apiary questline, and a spare jar sells for 500t.
Because four Legendary bees take longer to assemble than ordinary inputs, keep the museum copy before treating Legendary Honey as routine income.
Why the Apiary is making the wrong honey
If the preview says Honey or Deluxe Honey, remove the bees and check every slot. All four must be Fairy Bees recognized by the current game as Legendary. Then reinsert them and complete the new request shown by the Apiary.
If a mod changes insect tiers or production rules, test the same setup without that mod before reporting a save bug. A seasonal change can also refresh the requested item, so read the Apiary prompt again after the season turns.
