The exact location and conditions
The Ancient Firefly appears on Ancient Ruins floors 81–99 in every season and weather condition, all day. Mine depth—not a calendar window—is the real gate.

A more efficient floor loop
- 1
Enter the 81–99 range with open inventory and scan the accessible floor before committing stamina to every rock. The firefly is a visible creature, so your goal is to expose and cross as much floor area as possible, then continue downward or reset the range when the current layout produces no target.
- 2
Bring your Bug Net and leave an inventory slot free. Walk through accessible rooms on floors 81–99, catch the visible insect with the net, and check that the inventory name is Ancient Firefly. Empty floors can happen; keep searching without waiting for a weather change.
- 3
An Ancient Firefly is larger and less brightly pulsing than the Strobe Firefly, and it appears in the Ruins rather than the overworld. A regular Firefly is a separate common overworld catch, so confirm the item name before leaving the mine.
Museum, Terrarium, sale, and gifts
Donate the first Ancient Firefly to the Insect Wing's Ruins set. A duplicate can be displayed in a Terrarium or sold for 40t. It is a poor general-purpose gift: nearly every villager Dislikes it, while Dell, Dozy, Henrietta, and Luc are merely Neutral.
