Marriage requirements at a glance
Romance progression follows heart events at 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 hearts. At the 8-heart decision, choose Dating rather than Best Friend if marriage is your goal. Continue the relationship, complete the 10-heart content, and wait for Elsie to provide the Engagement Ring recipe.
The ring's materials push you to roughly floor 90 of the mines. That is the real progression gate: you do not need a larger farmhouse before marriage. This distinction matters because old assumptions about a required spouse room can lead to an unnecessary 95,000t upgrade path.

The full 1.0 roster includes six women and six men. Their shared mechanics are identical, so pick based on character, routine, and events rather than fear of a mechanically weaker spouse.

Gender, pronouns, and romance options
Marriage candidates are not locked to the player character's gender. Any eligible candidate can be dated and married, so appearance and pronoun choices do not remove romance routes.
Character creation includes multiple pronoun sets, including combined options added after launch. Choose the wording that fits your character; it does not change friendship points, heart-event requirements, proposal materials, or wedding timing.
Proposal, wedding day, and moving in
After a successful proposal, the earliest wedding date is five days later. The event offers customization choices, and the game handles routine farm care on the wedding day: crops and animals are automatically looked after so the celebration does not create a hidden penalty.
Since v1.0.3, festival setup days—Spring 14, Fall 7, and Winter 7—cannot be selected as wedding dates. If the five-day window lands on one of those setup days, choose the next available date instead.
Your spouse moves in after the wedding. On the following day, they bring three pieces of character-specific furniture. Treat those as unique keepsakes and make room in storage before reorganizing the house.
Children and current limits
About two weeks after marriage, a Mystical Feather conversation opens the optional family choice. After the choice, another roughly two-week wait leads to the child event. As of v1.0.4, one child is supported and the baby does not grow beyond the infant stage.
There is no divorce option, so choose the family route with that long-term commitment in mind.
