Quick answer

Prioritize your basic tools and town requests, keep the crop patch small enough to water comfortably, save one copy of every museum find, and work toward Stone Town Rank so the mines become your next reliable progression loop.

The first-week priority order

Treat the opening week as a setup phase, not a race to maximize every system. Get the free tools the story introduces, accept town-board requests you can finish naturally, and plant only what your current stamina can support. A modest field leaves enough energy to forage, fish, meet villagers, and advance restoration tasks.

Keep one copy of unfamiliar fish, insects, plants, and artifacts until you know whether the museum needs them. Selling everything creates short-term cash but usually adds another collection trip later. Extra common forage and duplicate catches are safer early sales.

  1. 1

Collect the basic tools and place a storage chest near your work area.

  2. 2

Plant a manageable spring plot; do not spend the entire morning watering.

  3. 3

Check the request board and group errands by map area.

  4. 4

Donate first copies of collection items before selling duplicates.

  5. 5

Raise Town Rank toward Stone to open the mine progression loop.

Days 1–4: build a forgiving routine

Use the first few days to learn travel times and place storage where it removes backtracking. Cooking and free recovery opportunities become more valuable than squeezing in one last low-value action at empty stamina. Adjust the in-game day length if the default pace feels rushed; the goal is a repeatable routine, not a perfect opening save.

Speak to villagers when your route already passes them. The first conversation of the day adds friendship progress, while a gift takes more planning and is limited to one per character each day. Early relationships should fit around town work rather than replace it.

  • Carry spare inventory space before long forage or fishing loops.
  • Use the lost-and-found system when an important object seems missing.
  • Keep requests, donations, and sales in separate chest rows to avoid mistakes.
  • Use map errands in clusters instead of crossing town for one item at a time.

Days 5–7: prepare for the mines

Once Stone Town Rank opens the mines, bring food, a pickaxe, and enough open slots for ore and artifacts. The elevator records progress every five floors, so short focused runs are useful even when you cannot push a long distance. Do not sell every Shard or artifact: both feed later requests and museum sets.

The mine is a progression loop, not the only profitable activity. Fishing, forage, requests, and duplicate collection items can support early expenses while ore is reserved for upgrades. When stamina or inventory is nearly spent, leave instead of risking an inefficient final floor.

Early mistakes that cost time

The most common problem is expanding too quickly: too many crops, an empty wallet, and no stamina for the systems that unlock permanent progress. Another is selling collection items before checking the museum. A third is planning around a fixed tool day or backpack price instead of checking what your save offers.

  • Do not buy a huge seed batch without checking remaining season days.
  • Check the tool delivery and first backpack price in your save before planning the week.
  • Do not ignore duplicate storage until your inventory is already full.
  • Do not chase every villager in one day—build gifts into normal routes.
